Registration criteria

Recruitment rules for candidates with a Polish diploma (with a degree from a Polish university)

 

1. Candidates with a graduate degree in a field assigned to the discipline of “political science and administration” will be qualified on the basis of their grade point average in the course of study.

The final score of the qualification procedure, expressed on a scale of 0-100, is calculated according to the following formula:

 

W = s*20

 

where:

W - final result of the qualification procedure,

s – grade point average over the course of study.

 

2. Candidates who do not have a degree in a field assigned to the discipline “political science and administration” will be qualified on the basis of an entrance exam conducted in English, during which the candidate's general knowledge of European public diplomacy will be tested and the motivation to study in this field will be assessed. The faculty will formulate detailed examination theses, which will be published on at least one website among those available at: https://wse.uksw.edu.pl, https://uksw.edu.pl/kandydaci, https://irk.uksw.edu.pl.

 

The final score of the qualification procedure, expressed on a scale of 0-100, is formed by converting the score on a scale of 2-5 into qualification points according to the following table:

Recruitment rules for candidates with a foreign diploma (university degree abroad)

 

Candidates will be qualified on the basis of an entrance exam conducted in English, during which the candidate's general knowledge of European public diplomacy will be tested and motivation to study in this field will be assessed. The faculty will formulate detailed examination theses, which will be published on at least one website among those available at: https://wse.uksw.edu.pl, https://uksw.edu.pl/kandydaci, https://irk.uksw.edu.pl.

The final score of the qualification procedure, expressed on a scale of 0-100, is formed by converting the score on a scale of 2-5 into qualification points according to the following table:

Both candidates with a foreign diploma and a Polish diploma should demonstrate proficiency in English at an appropriate level, i.e., at a level that allows them to undertake a second degree program in English, as evidenced by one of the documents listed below, with the proviso that if a candidate does not have such a document, he or she may take the English language proficiency verification (English language proficiency exam).

 

LIST of documents that prove English proficiency at the appropriate level and thus exempt from English proficiency verification (English proficiency exam):

1. Diploma confirming graduation from higher education studies conducted abroad or in the Republic of Poland - the language of instruction is recognized, if the language of instruction was exclusively English
2. Certificates of language proficiency of at least B2 on the global scale of language proficiency according to the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR) - European Framework of Reference for Languages: learning, teaching, assessment (ESL)”:
a. University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations
  • B2 First (previously called: Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)) –A or B assessment,
  • C1 Advanced (previously called: Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)) –A, B or C assessment,
  • C2 Proficiency (previously called: Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)) - A, B or C assessment
b. Educational Testing Service (ETS), Princeton, USA:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – B2 level: 75-93 points in Internet-Based Test (iBT) version
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – C1 level: 94-109 points in Internet-Based Test (iBT) version
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – C2 level: 110-120 points In Internet-Based Test (iBT) version
c. British Council, Cambridge English Language Assessment IDP IELTS Australia:
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – B2 level: 5,5-6,5 points
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – C1 level: 7-8 points
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – C2 level: 8,5-9 points

Verification of English proficiency, which will be taken by candidates who do not have any of the documents listed above, is aimed at issuing a certificate of English proficiency at the appropriate level or lack of English proficiency at the appropriate level.

Verification of English proficiency is carried out by a verification committee appointed by the head of the recruiting unit and composed of academicians. The verification committee may include members of the Recruitment Committee of the Social and Economic Faculty. Academic teachers from the Study of Foreign Languages at UKSW may participate in the work of verifying English proficiency. Academic teachers from the Study of Foreign Languages (SJO) may also be members of the verification committee.
